{Duck Commander Phil Robertson - Deciding to Follow Jesus} + Book Preview

Raise your hand if you're a Duck Dynasty fan!  Me, me, me! ::Jumping up and down, waving hands wildly:::

I watched Duck Dynasty on A&E on February 24th for the first time, thanks to my hubby's channel surfing.  I wasn't actually watching the show, but probably playing Candy Crush on my iPad, when I heard some VERY funny things being said.  My interest was piqued, and I looked up to see what he was watching.  I continue to crack up for the remainder of the show . . . and I was hooked!  Thankfully, they were running several episodes in a row, so we watched some more.  Come to find out, they're a Christian family, that incorporates their faith into their show.  No words are being bleeped out, and it's a great show that the entire family can watch together.  Amazing!  Sign me up for more of this, I say!  :D

Over the past few weeks, I've gotten to know the Robertson family even more, by reading their book, The Duck Commander Family.  It's a great book, by the way!  I highly recommend it if you're a fan of the show (or even if you haven't watched it yet)!

In addition, I stumbled across this LifeWay Christian video on my Facebook newsfeed, and I must say, I'm loving this family more everyday!  Their show has more than 4 million fans on facebook, and it just appears to be growing daily.  I don't know about you, but I think this is HUGE.  I'm so happy to see that this family is using their platform to bring glory to God, and that they appear to be staying grounded.  I just can't help but think, how many will be lead to Christ through this family and the example they set?  They have a huge platform, and a tremendous influence for Christ.  I pray they continue to use it well.

The patriarch of the family, Phil Robertson, has a book coming out on May 7, 2013, titled Happy, Happy, Happy.  Here's a little bit about the book . . .

In Happy, Happy, Happy: My Life and Legacy as the DUCK COMMANDER, author Phil Robertson, the founder of Duck Commander, shares his inspiring stories of creating the first duck call, beginning the Duck Commander business, becoming a Christian, and living his faith.

  1. That's great to know there are still wholesome shows being aired! It's always fun to find a new show to enjoy. :)

By the way, I wanted to tell you that I watched last week's episode of Survivor last Friday! Wow! I don't know how much was edited, staged, provoked, what-have-you, but that dissension/rage was so sad. :( I mean, I admit it was intriguing to see how far Brandon would go and how Jeff would settle the issue. It was sure an interesting episode! But how awful to ruin the food for the rest of the tribe, and to say such horrible things that I'm pretty sure he would regret leaving as a legacy for his family that he obviously cares for very much... And Philip! Grrr... I know Brandon provoked him, but still! Why is he so wrapped up in that silly Stealth-R-Us thing? I'm sure he's having to cope with some difficult emotions, too...

Anyway, I'm curious to see how the merge will play out and all that! :)

    1. I agree with you completely about Brandon! I have no idea what he was thinking; very sad, indeed. I remember him talking about being a Christian, and praying a lot when he was on the show before . . . and then to act the way he did on national television?? :::shaking my head:::

LOL on Stealth-R-Us! Philip is a NUT, but definitely entertaining. He adds a lot to the show -- I just wish he'd put his shorts on! Enough with the pink underwear! :o)

      Have a great weekend, Amber!

  2. Jess Patch turned me onto this show - and I LOVE it. Hubby and I watched several episodes this weekend along with the kids, and now I want to go back and watch the first few seasons. I also caught that Lifeway video this past week--what a great family it seems!

    1. YAY! I'm glad you're enjoying the show, too! They're a HOOT . . . especially Uncle Si! I've heard that he's exactly the same, on and off the camera. Hysterical!

  3. What a great video! I've never watched this show but guess where I heard about it? Our pastor! He loves the show and has used illustrations from it once in awhile in his sermons. At first I thought what kind of show is he watching?!? lol but it looks like I'm going to have to check it out now. The books look good too. :)

    1. Hi Cathy, how neat that your pastor has used the show in his sermons! I can't wait to hear what you think once you've watched the show.

Also, if you search Phil Robertson on youtube, you'll find some of his sermons/preaching . . . he's very good! Apparently he's been doing this type of thing for quite awhile, way before the Duck Dynasty show. I find the whole thing very fascinating. It's amazing to see how God has worked, and continues to work through this family.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend. :D
