I had been considering a blog of my own, but didn't think I really had too much to say, or offer, to the "world," but I thought I'd give it a try. It was also about this time that Julie Lessman was running her "Post-a-Review" contest to have a character named after you in her then upcoming book, A Heart Revealed.
I had been posting reviews like crazy, and I was coming to the end of the line -- I was running out of places to post more reviews when I had a light bulb moment! I could get four more entries if I had my own blog to post them to. And that, my friends, is how Sweet Treats & Inspiration was born!
After posting reviews like there was no tomorrow, some of you may know that I came in second place to my friend, Casey Herringshaw, of Writing for Christ - The Audience of One. I finished with a total of 169 reviews posted, and Casey finished with 240 reviews posted! She's pretty amazing! :) You'll find both of our names in A Heart Revealed . . . which is pretty cool, to say the least! If you'd like a chance to have YOUR NAME in Julie's next book, A Love Surrendered, just visit her contest link for all of the details.
If you want to read more about it on Julie Lessman's Journal Jots, you can visit her archives and search for the March 25, 2011 entry. And it goes without saying, that if you haven't read Julie's books yet . . . you simply must! Just be sure to start with A Passion Most Pure, which is book one in the Daughters of Boston series. If you haven't read my reviews for these OUTSTANDING books, you can find them here . . . A Passion Most Pure, A Passion Redeemed, A Passion Denied, A Hope Undaunted, and A Heart Revealed.
And without further adieu, I'd like to present THE GIVEAWAY! In celebration of my one year of blogging ( over 120 posts!), I'm offering a copy of A Passion Most Pure, plus, Julie has graciously offered to giveaway two books -- winner's choice of one of her books (including Steven's upcoming story, A Love Surrendered!), AND a top CBA book of their choice from her personal library as well. That's THREE BOOKS going to the WINNER!!! To be entered into the contest simply leave a comment on this post saying that you'd like to be entered. Be sure to leave your email address in your comment -- NO EMAIL ADDRESS=NO WIN.
If you'd like an extra entry -- Follow Sweet Treats & Inspiration, and leave a separate comment saying that you're a follower.
Contest ends on January 31, 2012 at 8:59 P.M. PST. Winner will be announced and notified on February 1st, and will have until February 8th to contact me to claim their prizes.
Thank you all for making this such a fun year of blogging!
Congratulation on 1 year of blogging!

GWEN!!! Oh, honey, we desperately need to get APMP in your hands, girl, because that's the book that started it all, this roller-coaster called The O'Connors! Without question, they are one of the most passionate families (both for God and in romance) in the CBA. So, thanks for coming by and here's to a win!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Julie

Hey, Michelle ... I got this message from a reader friend on Facebook who said she couldn't post, so I'm entering her now. Here's her message:
ReplyDeleteAmanda Harrison Cruz
I tried to post but I don't have an account that will allow me to.
I was going to say, "I am cracking up! It is just my luck that there would be a giveaway a mere couple of weeks after I purchased the entire series. LOL Well, with the exception of A Love Surrendered, of course....which I also plan to own at some point. I don't think I will enter the giveaway, but I would like to wish you a HAPPY ONE YEAR BLOGAVERSARY!!! I believe I am going to become a follower. :)"
Is it possible for you to pass the message along perhaps?? Thanks!
AMANDA!!! Consider yourself entered for Steven's story, my friend, and here's to a win!!
Hugs,
Julie
LINDA!!! You're throwing me off with that new addy, girlfriend (Carman 7351), but no, you don't have to tell me which book YOU want, because I already know!! :) So GOOD LUCK in the contest, my friend, because I would LOVE to send you a signed copy! Thanks for coming by to wish Michelle Happy Blogaversary!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Julie
How fun to hear about how you started your blog! :D Happy blogoversary, dear blogging friend!!
ReplyDeleteAnd huge thanks to you and Julie for offering such great prizes!!
~Amber
stokes[dot]a[at]suddenlink[dot]net
SHELLY!!!! WHOO-HOO, fresh blood!!! :) LOVE it when I am introduced to a new reader because it's so much fun to think of you entering the world of the O'Connors for the very first time. Get ready to love and hate a few characters and YES, you may even throw one or two of the books across the room before you are through because the angst is just as high as the passion in this passionate family saga. So good luck!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Julie
HORSENRT!!! Thanks for coming by to wish Michelle Happy Blogaversary, and I assume you love horses?? Although there are no "horses" in the O'Connor family saga, I do have them in my next series, so stay with me, girl, for a bronc ride with more than a few kicks and spills. GOOD LUCK!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Julie
TERESA!!!! Hey, girl, talk about THE BEST ... you write some pretty stellar reviews, both for my books and others, so THANK YOU!! And trust me, I would LOVE to get another of my books into your hands, so here's to a win ... :)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Julie
CAROL ... you're here ... YAY!!! Know you're busy, so thanks for dropping by. Fingers crossed for a win ... :)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Julie
ANGIE ... your name reminds me of Ireland (Adare County!), so wishing you the luck of the Irish in nabbing a couple copies of this Irish family saga.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Julie
YAY, MARGIE, for becoming a follower!! You won't be sorry because Michelle's blog is GREAT!! Good luck in the contest!

ReplyDeleteHugs,
Julie
KAREN!!! SOOOOO good to see you, darlin' ... let's see if we can't pull out a win for you since this will be my last giveaway for a while ... GOOD LUCK!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Julie
PATTY, soooo thrilled you have AHR in your TBR pile. Sounds like you've read the others, so a word of warning. AHR starts out a LOT slower than the others because Sean and Emma have been friends for ten years, so it's a slow ripening into love instead of the fast and furious sparks that fly between, say Katie and Luke. The good news is, there's a spark-flying sub story for both Katie and Luke and Charity and Mitch that I think will keep the pages warm until Sean and Emma heat up, so happy reading!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Julie
Hey, AMBER, SO good to see you here, my friend. Hope all is well in college and that you find time to read a few non-scholarly books!! ;)

ReplyDeleteI have to tell the rest of your readers that I read 5 of them and I CAN HARDLY wait for the next one. I'm going through withdrawal.
I have other I follow also, but your books are one of a kind -- mine is in my desk and not been worked on for a year.
I will get back to it, but I have my 93-year-old father here and that is a priority now. I may include that in my book -- Mary Pierce says about life: "It's all material." Love you, Julie
Whoa Nellie.....had to stop at this giveaway, first of all to congratulate you on your blogaversary..that's fantastic. Now...Julie is my very favorite author and a lady very high on my love list, and I'd be more than honored to be a winner of her newest novel about Steven in Love Surrendered; and any novel I haven't read....if there is one! Thank you for this giveaway and the chance to be a winner. I hope I am!

ReplyDeletepbclark(at)netins(dot)net
WANDA!!! How the heck are you, my friend?? Thank you SO much for coming by AND for your kind words!! And "withdrawal"??? LOL ... I know what you mean -- I've been editing book 1 of The Cousins McClare all week, and it's been hard because let's face it, I was locked into the O'Connors for eleven years now (started writing it in 2001), so it's BIG TIME withdrawal for me as well!!
ReplyDeleteAnd, goodness, I sure understand about your dad because I have a 93-year-old aunt for whom I am the responsible party, so it does eat up a lot of your time, as it should. BUT ... timing is everything, and God's is best, so you WILL get back to that book and it will FLOW like crazy, in Jesus name!!
Good luck in the contest and OH MY, Mary is soooo right -- "it's all material"!! Good luck in the contest, girlfriend!!
Hugs,
Julie
BARB!!! Seriously ... your "very favorite author"??? WHOA, BABY, I don't take that likely, my friend, so THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!
ReplyDeleteHope you are completely back to normal (a relative term, if you're anything like me! ;)), and thank you for dropping by AND for following Michelle -- she's a sweetheart just like you and both of you, I assure you, are "high on my love list" too, my friend, so GOOD LUCK!!
HUGS,
Julie
Hey, CHRISTINA, saying one for you RIGHT NOW, my friend, that this will be an easy treatment. Sure wish I had a new book for you to read, but only seven months to go till Steven's story breaks out the Kleenex!! I usually go through about 11 Kleenex when I edit my books, but I went through approximately 30 on A Love Surrendered, so maybe that's just because I knew I it was the last one ... ?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, thank you SO much, not only for coming by to wish Michelle a Happy Blogaversary, but for reading my books. Here's to a win -- both in your treatments AND in this contest!! :)
Hugs,
Julie
Aw, SUSAN, thank you SOOO much, my friend, and I am in TOTAL agreement on Michelle's blog -- here's to ten more, and may they continue to bless her and the people she touches. :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck in the contest, girl!
Hugs,
Julie
Gosh, ANDREA, I know what you mean about Michelle's blog -- music, books and recipes are some of my favorite things, and when Michelle had the song "How He Loves" by David Crowder Band on my interview last time, I would start crying every single time I visited -- LOVE her taste in music, and, obviously, books!! :)
ReplyDeleteSO glad you enjoyed APD, and I am anxious to see what you think of Katie and Cluny's story, A Hope Undaunted. It is my favorite of all the books I've written, so let me know whenever you read it. Who knows? Maybe it will be after you win it here???
Good luck, sweetie, and thanks for coming by!!
Hugs,
Julie
INGRID, thank you SO much for your kind comment AND for coming by to say "hey" and congratulate Michelle on her first-year blogaversary! Here's to a win, my friend. :)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Julie
LAURA!!! Talk about "favorite people," girlfriend, you are DEFINITELY one of Michelle's and mine and I am STILL praying for you both on Monday's in particular, so hope things are going well.
ReplyDeleteAnd, YES, YES, A THOUSAND TIMES YES -- I agree with your statement about "what a blessing (Michelle) is, her blog and her life, to SO many, ESPECIALLY you and me, Laura!!
Thanks for coming by, my friend -- cannot WAIT to read the new book, although I am reallllly wondering how you're going to top it as TCL was, as you know, one of my FAVORITE books ever!!
Hugs,
Julie
Hey, EDWINA, thank you, darlin', for coming by to say hello, and here's hoping it nets you a win!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Julie
Aw, MARISSA, you are MORE than welcome, sweetie, but I'm only giving away two books -- Michelle is actually giving away APMP, so I'm grateful to her for that.
ReplyDeleteAnd, LOL ... you "admire me a lot"??? :)I guarantee you that's ONLY because you don't have to live with me ... ;)
Good luck in the contest, my friend!
Hugs,
Julie
Hey, PAM, I am more than happy to complete your collection, darlin', because goodness knows all the books need the others to give you the total perspective on this passionate family, so GOOD LUCK in the contest, my friend! :)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Julie
WFNREN ... thank you SO much, sweetie, for your kind words -- heaven knows I try! And I LOVE the design of Michelle's blog too, especially the colors AND the pictures of desserts!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck in the contest, girl, and here's to a win!
Hugs,
Julie
CATHY!!! You bet Canada is included, sweetie, at least for the two books that I will be giving away, but not Michelle's winner copy of A Passion Most Pure, I don't think.
ReplyDeleteAnd, ohhhhh, you've read three of the four??? That means that A Hope Undaunted is next, which is my all-time FAVE of all the books I've written!! Absolutely LOVE the head-butting between Cluny McGee and Katie Rose -- it's SO reminiscent of John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara butting heads in McClintock or the The Quiet Man, although that movie is more like Charity and Mitch's relationship, I think. At any rate, if you win here, I will be happy to send you A Heart Revealed because there is some GREAT head-butting in that one between both Katie and Cluny and Charity and Mitch too, so GOOD LUCK!!
HUGS,
JULIE
MICHELLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Honey, for you??? ANYTHING, you know that -- you are one of my MOST special reader friends and I love ya!!

She is so awesome! Was just listening to Find You On My Knees - so powerful!
I'm definitely going to follow you now, but please don't enter me in the giveaway as I've already read Julie's books :) Hey Julie! May the Lord richly bless you both!!

Hi Kara! It's nice to meet you! So glad you could stop by and get your name in the giveaway. Thanks so much for your kind words. I look forward to getting to know you, too! : )
ReplyDeleteWhen you do read Julie's books, be sure to start with the Daughters of Boston series, book 1, A Passion Most Pure. You don't want to read A Hope Undaunted until after you've read the DOB series. Each book builds on the previous one, so it's best to read them in order. :D
Have a blessed weekend!
Michelle
AMANDA!!! Soooo good to see you here, girl!! Hope all is well in your world, albeit busy, and that you are enjoying school. Here's to blessings galore in 2012!!

Love your books, Julie and would love to win this one...Thanks to you and Michelle for this opportunity! I saw one of your comments that you are responsible for your 93 year old aunt. I have a precious Aunt Lena who is 97 and still lives in her own apartment ALONE. She is remarkable and God willing, she will be 98 in August...the last and longest living member of my Dad's family...margie at mijares dot net
