{What I've Been Up To}

Me and the Mr. on a Cub Scout trip to San Francisco
Hi there, friends!  Long time, no see.  : )

My posts have been few and far between, but I wanted to pop in here and say hello to all of you.  I'm still here!  I've been blessed with so many subbing jobs, and we've been keeping busy with Cub Scout activities, family gatherings, the regular day-to-day things, and some things that just break my heart.

On February 15, we had to put down our beloved cat of 19 years.  Bear had been sick since right before Christmas, and just when I thought he was doing better, he took a turn for the worse.  It was tough watching him struggle, and it was heartbreaking to even think about putting him down.  He was having difficulty walking, in addition to being very underweight, dehydrated, and anemic.  His body was basically shutting down.  The vet said it was time to let him go, because he would only suffer and continue to get worse.  :::sigh:::

It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do, but I also felt peace in the decision.  He had lived a good, long life.  I'm so blessed that I was able to spend almost 20 years with this handsome guy.  He will truly be missed.

On a happier note, we also had the opportunity to go to San Francisco with my son's Cub Scout den. We walked across the Golden Gate Bridge and the surrounding area, and had a fantastic day! You'd think that as a California native, living here for all of my 41 years, this is something that I would have done at some point, but this was the first time. It was a gorgeous day, the weather was perfect, and I truly enjoyed soaking up every breathtaking moment!

I pray that you all have been doing well, and I look forward to getting some new blog posts here for you soon.  Take care and be blessed!  Hugs, Michelle

  1. Oh, Michelle, I'm so sorry about your cat. :( He looks like he was a sweetie! That's so special that you had him for almost 20 years - I'm sure you have a lot of great memories to cherish. Praying for you!

It sounds like you've certainly been keeping busy, and I'm glad that most of the goings-on have been good. That's a great picture of you and your husband. :) It's good to "see" you around the blogosphere again!

    1. Thank you, Amber. Bear was definitely a sweet, cuddly guy. It's still hard to believe he's not here. :(

Thank you for your prayers; I appreciate it. :)

Thank you for the compliment on the picture! Unfortunately, my camera ran out of battery, so this one was taken with my phone. It's not as clear/sharp as I'd like, but it's not too bad for a phone photo. :)

  2. So sorry to hear about your cat. Ours is 12 years old and he is our little buddy so I can imagine how hard it was for you and your family to lose Bear.
Beautiful photo. We've been to San Fransisco a few times and enjoyed it too. Glad it was a nice day for you!
Look forward to your new posts to come! God bless. :)

    1. Thank you, Cathy. It was a pretty rough day when we went to put him down. I let the kids decide if they wanted to go with me, or not, and they all wanted to. :::sigh::: It was so sad. All of us bawling, and saying goodbye to him. Definitely the most difficult part of having a pet.

That's great that you've been to San Francisco! Did you go to the Golden Gate Bridge?

      Thanks for stopping by!
      Blessings,
      Michelle

    2. I know some people spend the day and walk across it, but we never did. We just drove over it. :) It's such a cool bridge.

We drove to California on our honeymoon and remember visiting Alcatraz. Years later we drove to California with our kids and stopped in San Francisco and visited the Pier.

I've been to California about 5 times now and I've loved it every time, so many beautiful places to visit on the drive down. My favorite is the Redwood forest, so majestic.

  3. Michelle, I am so sorry about Bear. What a beautiful cat - and he lived 20 years! That's amazing. I know how hard this must have been. My family is crazy about our dog and cat (Cracker is black like your Bear) and it's always such a huge loss.

Love the epic of you and hubby at top:) I am so behind on my blog reading/visiting. Can hardly keep up with my own.

Praying for you and thinking of you often, my sweet friend.
